Importance of Social Networking

Social networking is usually viewed in two ways, either you love it or you hate it! But it is fast becomming a extremely useful tool and one which many web designs are now including. But just how important are socials like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn?

With the Royal Wedding now over and done with, the Bank Holiday Weekend saw some lovely scenes of the Wedding but then in contrast we saw the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Maybe these are events which do not interest you but what is interesting is that social networking site Twitter revealed the raid unknowingly.

An IT consultant who was living in Abbottabad started to tweet the details of the US-led operation as it happened without realising the significance of his tweeting until after the announcement by President Obama.

Mr Athar’s first tweet of the event came at 1am, “Helicopter hovering above Aboottabad at 1AM (is a rare event)”. Shortly after his initial post he posted again stating that he had heard the sound of an explosion, "A huge window shaking bang here in Abbottabad. I hope it’s not the start of something nasty :-S".

Throughout the whole raid some friends of Mr Athar were also online, swapping information and tweeting about the event live as it happened. This has highlighted the huge significance of social networking within society today.

The media are now using this revolutionary tool to keep up to date and ahead of events. Mr Athar tweeted about the military presence 2 hours after the event even though US officials had stated the raid had only took 40 minutes, "And now, a plane flying over Abbottabad..."

Twitter which has now been around for five years has just like other social networking sites managed to play a part in the broadcasting of world events. Brick technology web design incorporates this vital tool into the overall design of your website should you so wish.

We even have our own Brick technology, Facebook, Twitter and RSS Feed why not follow, friend or read about what Brick are getting up to so that you can stay ahead too!
